Since much of this type of terminology exists on the older posts, AND it would take too long to go back and edit every one of them, I have decided to keep this post on the site. Ok, I kept it for shit's and giggles too... - Rick S. 7/31/11

Beer GEEK: A Craft Beer Enthusiast
Beer SNOB: A Snooty Craft Beer Enthusiast - similar to a Wine Snob
Beer DOUCHE: An Uber-Snooty Craft Beer Enthusiast, whose attitude and actions are a complete turn-off would-be craft beer fans. The beer-douche believes that he is in special class of drinker - a class with limited membership, and it should stay that way.Needless to say, the Beer Godz utterly despise the Beer Douche!!! They are anathema to us and our cause.
Sure we like to break balls, and we'll use derogatory terms, but it is really just done in jest, and we do not allow it to get in the way of our goals, which is to help people discover the wonderful world of Quality Craft Beer, and have fun! We recognize that some of our readers will never get into QCB, and that's fine with us - they're still our friends!
Having said that, here are some:

--- --- --- OTHER BEER TERMS --- --- ---
Lacing: The latticework of foam from the head of the beer that is left on the glass after each sip. Typically Belgian's, IPA's, and Stout's, particularly Oatmeal Stout's have the best or most lacing due to lots of hops and/or proteins.
Firkin: 9 Imperial gallons = 10.8 U.S. gallons = .70 kegs. Casks in this size (themselves called firkins) are the most common container for Cask Ale. A firkin is equal to half a Kilderkin
Sixtel: 5.12 gallons = 1/3 keg = 1/6 barrel = 54.6 12-ounce beers = 2.28 cases of 12-ounce beer
Brett: Short for Brettanomyces yeast
Brett Funk: "Brett creates a rustic, unique flavor, like leather or barnyard. It’s really distinctive. But it’s extremely aggressive." If that doesn’t get you going, how about another one of Vinnie Cilurzo’s (Russian River Brewing Co.) descriptions: “wet dog in a phone booth.” Hahaha!!! Nonetheless, American brewers have been experimenting with these flavors and are finding it gives their beer that extra kick that the Belgians have been capitalizing on for years. If a brewery is brave AND careful enough, they can reap amazing dividends in flavor! More info on Brett and American Wild Ale's can be found HERE
